FEMALE GUIDES COMMUNITY INITIATIVES
I had the pleasure of meeting Hope from Females Guides Community Initiatives last trip to Arusha. This inspiring woman has a female safari company in Tanzania! Her goal is to close the gender gap in safari guiding and tourism in East Africa.
To promote, support and encourage women aspiring to become tour guides and help them reach their goals by providing professional skills, tuition fees, transport, field gear expenses, guidance, accommodation and psychological support.
Our vision is to see an end to the gender imbalance that currently exists within the tour guide community in Tanzania.
We solely operate off of donations to carry out our mission.
The primary need right now is money to send the women to school and purchase a Landcruiser to facilitate the training and reach the women ($15,000), funds to buy books for the women, a laptop, and a projector. With these funds, we can start purchasing what we need to accomplish the organisation's mission.
We aim to raise $10,000 to begin our mission as soon as possible. We have two girls who are waiting for funds to go to school. $2,100 could send a girl to school.
Every donation gets us one step closer to reaching women and empowering them through the profession of tour guiding.
We are currently in need of the following:
- 4x4 Landcruiser to facilitate training
- Books for our library
