Feeding Our Seniors During COVID19

Members of the community have come together to support those vulnerable and affected families affected by the #COVID19 pandemic in Paterson.
Our seniors especially need us, and we will continue to provide as safely as we can, for as long as we can. Please consider donating to allow us to continue this work.
My name is Zellie Thomas and I am a Paterson public school teacher and community organizer. Once the pandemic reached our state of New Jersey, and the governor ordered a state of emergency, I quickly realized that many people, especially our elders, would be going without food.
Since March 19th we have been raising money in order to purchase meals from participating restaurants, which we then deliver to the senior and disabled community in Paterson, NJ.
Initially, we serviced 25 seniors. But each day as word spread, more families reached out to us to help support a loved one. Currently, we are providing up to 100 meals a day.
The restaurants meals usually cost between $7-$8, but we are able to negotiate it to $5 or $6. Even though the price of the meals are lower, as the number of community members we support grows, so does the bill to pay for the meals.
We are asking for our local and online community to continue to support us as we support our most vulnerable. If we are asking them to stay inside the house, we must be sustaining them while they are doing so.
Donations go towards purchasing 100 meals 3 times per week. We also try to support seniors by purchasing their necessities like masks, gloves, toilet paper, and paper towels.
