Feeding Boston's Homeless Community
Donation protected
Story
In November 2018, Christian Avila, Jake Yates, and Ryan Lee came together one evening at a house dinner with an idea to run a marathon in the new year as a communal challenge. As passionate runners, the three committed to embarking on a 6-month+ journey of training for a marathon as a way to love God, share life, and proclaim Jesus.
From initial conversation over dinner and morning runs together, the idea grew into a potential campaign that could benefit the homeless ministry we have been privileged to serve. In working with the Lion of Judah Church near Methadone Mile, we felt called, after receiving positive feedback from our peers, to raise funds and support the wanderers without dwellings in our Boston community through running the 2019 Maine Coast Marathon on Saturday, May 11, 2019.
The story continues and we encourage you to join us on our Team Antioch Marathon Journey as we run in the name of Jesus to glorify God, and fundraise $4,031 to support Lion of Judah in their homeless ministries and efforts as per Isaiah 40:31: "But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint."
By giving, your donations will be used to...
1. Upgrade the fan extractor used along with the stove we use to feed 100+ hungry guests; and
2. Replace equipment that is old or damaged like tables that our guests use and computers to keep track of our guests in our database; and
3. Buy new morale shirts for both our guests as well as our staff and learning materials for bible studies and self-development.
Thank you so much for your time! All gifts of any size are greatly appreciated! Let's turn Methadone Mile into Miracle Mile!
