Final Update! As of Jan 7 all funds have been distributed in the form of groceries to the team up at Buck Creek. Tough start to the winter- I don’t think anyone predicted quite how tough when this campaign kicked off!- and having the community show up for the mountain crew has been awesome. Thanks so much for everyone who kicked in! It’s tough to share photos on LinkedIn, so please email me if you want a link to the drive w the shopping lists and receipts!
Update Saturday Dec 13: A very large order of groceries has been successfully delivered to Buck Creek! Employee fridges are well stocked, and additional groceries have been distributed. Currently sourcing a location for an employee food pick up spot for employees not at Buck Creek. Will update as that spot is identified. Amount spent so far is $1948.98.
Update Friday Dec 12: An order got delivered. It was, consistent with the karma of the whole week, the wrong order. If anyone needs diapers you can find them at Buck Creek. In the meantime we're working on getting the full (and correct) order delivered tomorrow with the convoy.
Update Thursday Dec 11: Plans have been impacted by the 410 closure. The first grocery list is ready to go and we'll have the order picked up and brought up to Buck Creek at the first possible day. Road closure will dictate whether we're able to finish up by Dec 12 or whether we need to keep this open a bit longer. Again, huge thanks to the folks helping to make this happen.
Update Tuesday Dec 9: We've got the first order ready to go and we're working through through the delivery logistics. First wave will be heading up toward Buck Creek. Photos and receipts to follow! Huge thanks to everyone who has pitched in so far to make this happen!
I'm Erynn and I've skied Crystal Mountain since 1994, and worked there for a while in the 90's. Every winter day, the magic of ski season is brought to life by the people who work behind the scenes long before the first chair spins—ski patrollers, instructors, lifties, snow-cat drivers, parking crews, and the many hourly workers who keep the mountain safe, welcoming, and running. This year, with the opening of the resorts delayed, hundreds of these essential workers are suddenly facing weeks without pay, right as the cost of groceries, heating, and transportation climbs. They’re the heart of the mountain, and right now they need us. Your donation will go directly toward providing grocery bags and essentials for these hardworking individuals and families who make winter possible for everyone else. Even a small contribution helps ensure no one who dedicates their season to our safety and joy has to worry about feeding themselves or their kids. Let’s show up for the people who always show up, every single day, all winter long.
Where does this money go? Directly to buying bags of groceries for mountain employees. Every penny. Full budget and receipts will be published at the close of the food distribution, which is currently scheduled to end Friday, Dec 12. Food will be purchased and distributed daily as the money becomes available.
(Special note to anyone who bought a Crystal Mountain Reserve Pass, or who pays extra for upper lot parking: "Dude. PUT IN SOME CASH. THIS IS THE TIME TO PRESERVE YOUR SPECIAL SPOT IN THE LINE FOR HEAVEN. ")
