“When you see goodness happening in this world....you want to step in and be a part of it!!” My college mate as she reached out to me and I was inspired to start this gofundme for any of my friends who might consider helping.
In the photo are women from my village where I was born, raised until the age of 18 when I moved to the US. During my that time life was never as unbearable as it is now where most of these women and their families can barely afford a loaf of bread that costs $1. In the picture these women are waiting for work on their project to start.
Hearing about the situation that most of these families are in, I went to them and simply asked, “what is it that I can do to help”
Collectively they said they would like to start an income generating project - a sustainable chicken raising project. They said, “we will do all the work - mold bricks, build a large coop (500 to 800 chickens) but we have no money to buy the chicks and feed” I told them I would help with the funding.
The women above with their buckets have come to fetch water so that the young men of the village can prepare for molding of bricks. As of yesterday they have molded 10K bricks. Please visit our FB page Kanyongo Village to see all the hard work going into this project and even as hard as the work they are undertaking is, there is no lack of positivity among all involved.
As I was sitting back trying to think, I could not help but to throw myself into the mix trusting in some way I could help. It seems thus far that has inspired collective believe among families in my village that things can be better through their own work.
If you will, consider helping. Thank you!
