Peace and Blessings!!! I began this fundraiser because my neighborhood is in danger. The neighborhood I grew up in (as well as two other housing subsidies nearby) lost their only grocery store in a 3 mi radius on June 20th, creating a food desert in downtown Norfolk, Virginia. These three housing redevolopments, Tidewater Park (Gardens), Young's Park (Terrace) , and Calvary "Kerr" Park (Square), are low income areas where predominantly black or poc reside. As a solution to this issue, this fundraiser was created to assist residents of these neighborhoods with their grocery needs. The funds raised here will go towards finding alternative ways to get residents fed; like purchasing food and creating care baskets for the households, providing transportation to and from other grocery stores in the area, and finding steady, reliable food resources for the future.
