Hello Family and Friends,
We all know that almost the whole world is in lockdown due to Covid-19, and in a country like the Philippines, where a quarter of the population lives below poverty line, mandatory "shelter in place" orders are causing many people to starve. Living a hand to mouth existence, with no social safety net or savings and no government support, gives people nowhere to turn. The lockdown means no work, no pay, and no food for them.
I knew as soon as I found out that President Duterte had issued a mandatory lock down that a lot of people would go hungry. There were promises of supplies from local government units, but, for whatever reason, assistance has been little to none. I decided to help by sending cash to my family in the Philippines, who helped with buying, packing and distributing foods. So far, we have fed over 60 families in a span of 2 weeks.
The lockdown has been extended to April 30, and that is why I have created a GoFundMe to cover some of the cost. $5 can feed a family for a few days. Every bag of food we give a family will include 3 kilos of rice, 4 cans of sardines, 4 ramen packs and 6 coffee sachets. Friends, there is such a great need. A lot of children are going to bed hungry. I can help provide for some, but with your help, we can help meet the needs of many more.
If you could support my GoFundMe by making a donation and sharing it with your network, I would greatly appreciate it. I know that money can be tight, so please know that even just $5 helps me get closer to my goal! I will match donations up to $500!
I promise that a detailed list of expenses will be shared publicly, as well as photos and videos from the food distribution.
Let me know if you have any questions and I will be happy to answer them.
May God bless you! Thank you in advance for your kind heart.
