Hi my name is Lauren.
My backstory…
I moved into supported/sheltered housing through Foundation over 10 years go, after a few months of having nowhere stable or secure to live after becoming homeless over the summer when I was 16.
See the thing is, that’s what you don’t learn at school… What do you do when your home is no longer your home? Who can help and support? What is a food bank? What’s sheltered housing?
This Christmas I want to make a change and I am looking for donations to help cover the costs of buying food to feed the homeless and those financially vulnerable this Christmas Eve.
Bringing the gift of Christmas to those who need it most - any venues which would be happy to put up a poster or have some leaflets please reach out
Christmas Eve 1pm-8pm myself and Nikkita will be providing free Christmas dinners to those who are homeless and pay what you can afford for those facing financial hardship (and anyone who wants to support our work!) at OMI Bar (welford road city centre end)
❄️We will also be serving up tea & coffee to keep warm… the catch, having to deal with my cooking (as a northern girl cooking roasts are second nature, you’re in safe hands).
Whilst christmas is a time of joy for some, for others it is quite the opposite. Whether it be living on the streets, isolated, lack of community or family, people struggling to get by with the cost of living… no one deserves to go hungry or be alone this Christmas.
If anyone would be happy to put up posters in their places of work or would like to help towards food donations or even juice & milk that would otherwise be thrown during Christmas closures that would be greatly appreciated.
Venue will also be open to the general public.

While I can’t promise all your worries away, what I can promise you is a heartfelt day of no judgement, a safe space to eat and be warm, and some companionship (and of course some insanely cringe Christmas music and games)
