Feed the Cuties: Mutual Aid for Queer and Trans Folks in Portland
Queer Cute is building a direct mutual aid fund to help queer and trans people in Portland access food through the winter as SNAP cuts take effect. I quickly learned that food drop off at events is not reliable for folks who need food right now and want to ensure that there are no gaps in people accessing food and no need to travel to access food -- so I came up with a solution -- gift cards, emailed to those who need it, immediately.
Every dollar raised goes straight to grocery gift cards for community members who need extra support. When systems fail us, we show up for each other.
How it works:
Folks in need can sign up confidentially to receive a grocery gift card. Depending on funds, we will try to make this happen more than once for folks, but this is based on funds raised and how many people sign up.
Gift cards will be distributed in person via email as e-gift cards. If you need a physical card, I can absolutely coordinate local pick up in Portland, OR.
100% of funds go to food and basic needs.
Your donation helps us keep people fed, safe, and cared for. Whether you give $5 or $50, you’re making sure someone eats this week.
