Feed Our Home-bound Seniors

Donation protected
The Gathering of Women  is a nonprofit community-based organization that works to transform the conditions of the community through education and outreach for social, safety, and health issues.  The food pantry was formed last year in response to the coronavirus pandemic and delivers groceries weekly to over 500 home-bound seniors throughout all of Pinellas County.  Currently, the pantry is solely supported through donations.  The CARES Nonprofit Partnership Fund grant expired December 30th 2020.
It costs approximately $1,400 weekly to buy food for seniors, $750 a month to rent a truck, and there is fuel , rent and other expenses.  Volunteers use their own vehicles to pick up essential groceries and supplies like Glucerna or Ensure which are very expensive for seniors on a fixed income.  Reaching our goal would mean home-bound seniors could eat for the rest of 2021.
Beginning in April, grocery deliveries will decrease from three days to only one day a week due to the lack of funding.   Some difficult choices will have to be made.
How do you decide which seniors to leave out?
We would be so grateful for anything you can contribute, even if it's just sharing this link with a friend.
