Hi Friends!

I am starting a GoFundMe to help raise money for children, families, and staff that will be facing food insecurity starting Saturday, Nov. 1st.

These are local families that attend my daughter’s daycare and will be hit the hardest with the SNAP benefit cuts that will take effect over the weekend. Good, hard-working people who are doing their best to raise their children and support their families. No one should go to bed hungry. No one. Especially not a child.

My goal is to raise $500 here, and I will match the remaining $500, with the hope of providing each family a gift card of $50 to ease their financial burdens. If we exceed that goal, the additional funds will be divided among the families and applied to their gift cards.

This is something I’m incredibly passionate about as it is something I grew up with. I was a SNAP kid. There were days where the first meal I received was the school lunch. If I was lucky, I would arrive early enough to get free breakfast. Not always though, and the hunger pains were rough. Many times, my classmates would share food with me—snacks, leftovers from lunch, etc. I will never forget the generosity of those kids. They helped keep me going. They helped keep me focused on learning. They helped keep me in school. It’s because of my classmates, teachers, friends, and programs like SNAP that I am now a successful adult with my own children who will (hopefully) never experience food insecurity.

Food is a basic human right. Please help me help these babies. Please. Every penny counts and no child should go hungry.
