Linda Obasi went to Nigeria on March 12, 2020, to shoot a documentary-style series on food, nutrition, and agriculture. The 8- week production, with a local crew of 9 people, began shooting on March 23rd.
The first week of the shoot was very successful. Week 2 came to a halt when the state of Abuja was locked down to help prevent the spread of the new coronavirus. Funding sources for the show, called the Fufu Diet, also came to a halt as each was hit by the effects of the global pandemic.
The host/producer, a New York resident, is now stranded in Abuja along with crew members, some unable to return to their states of residence due to the restriction of interstate travel in Nigeria. Five of the crew members have young children, including a four-month-old and several toddlers.
With their production salaries affected by the current upheaval, they are unable to provide for their families. They live from paycheck to paycheck. Your help would allow these families to purchase basic food and water that they now desperately need amid this sudden upheaval.
Funds are needed as soon as possible and will be disbursed to the crew members who have young children to care for during the extended COVID lockdown. It will help the families get through this crisis and maintain them until production can resume.
Thank you so much for any amount you can contribute to feed these hardworking families and their children.
Donors will be listed under special thanks in the credits of the production when it is finally completed.
