We are Fed Up, a youth movement which seeks to cultivate a sense of community amongst those who suffer from eating disorders, among broader swathes of mental illnesses.
In an attempt to dispel the decorum about mental health, we preside over a multitude of programs which seek to build rapport between adolescents, educate elementary grade students about the woes of eating disorders, and generate a greater dialogue across all age groups.
Having already kindled a partnership with Johns Hopkins' Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and eating disorder clinic therein. Funds will contribute towards treatment plans, educational curricula, and mentorship programs in order to further rehabilitative and preventative measures alike for so vulnerable a demographic as children and teens.
Having suffered from anorexia nervosa herself, founder Emily Kavic is an ardent supporter of the cause and yearns to revolutionize the conversation on mental health by starting it. Especially in light of COVID developments, the world has seen an astronomical declivity in mental health, and those with eating disorders are house-bound, left to confront unhealthy ideation without the customary hustle and bustle as distraction.
Devoid of resources beyond forty-year-old women's TED Talks, adolescents remain without much fodder for their own understandings of humans' relationships with and constructs of beauty, sustenance, and compulsion. We're hear to fill in the gap.
