Books Across Generations – Supporting Christ Church School & Friends of the Elderly

My name is Sophia Das, and I’m a former Christ Church student who now returns every summer to help in classrooms and around the school. I’m currently in Year 12, and Christ Church is still a very special place to me.

When I was ten, I raised £925 through my website:

by reviewing and selling books I read to my little brother Sebastian and donated the funds to Christ Church and Friends of the Elderly, a charity I discovered through my admiration for Her Late Majesty the Queen.

Now, with Friends of the Elderly celebrating their 120th anniversary and Princess Anne as their new patron, this fundraiser is a way to connect generations through stories.

Christ Church children will ask their grandparents about a favourite book, and either draw or photograph it. The artworks and stories will be proudly displayed at the school after Half Term.

Through this project, I am raising funds to support education, care, and kindness and I am excited to discover which books hold a special place in grandparents’ hearts.

All donations raised through this fundraiser will be split 50/50 between Christ Church Primary and Friends of the Elderly.

The funds will be collected via gofundme.com - 50% for Friends of the Elderly’s and 50% for Christ Church School once the fundraiser ends.
