For The People, By The People!

Millions of Connecticut residents are working paycheck to paycheck while the gap between the rich and poor continues to grow. Working class people across the state are struggling to keep up with rent, healthcare, utilities, and the other necessities of life. Inspired by historical and modern examples of mutual aid, The CT branch of the Party for Socialism and Liberation has started the Serve The People program to regularly provide essential goods to working class people and families across the state of Connecticut.

What We Do: Every month members of the PSL and members of the community travel to various locations around CT to help distribute essential goods like toiletries, hygiene products, childcare products, etc. to the most vulnerable members of our community. While these locations are currently limited to the New Haven and Hartford areas, with your help we will be able to expand and provide these essential services to more areas around CT.

What is mutual aid? Mutual aid is a form of solidarity-based support, in which communities unite against their common struggles, rather than leaving individuals to fend for themselves. The Serve The People program is made up of dedicated members of Connecticut communities all across the state, who are providing their neighbors with essential goods and services during an ongoing time of crisis.

Goal: The goal of the Serve The People program is to share resources and build solidarity among communities all throughout the state of Connecticut. Our aim is to provide basic goods like toiletries, hygiene products, childcare products, etc. to the most vulnerable members of our community. While we understand that many of the root causes of poverty and strife are rooted in capitalism and other systems of oppression, it is necessary that the people are well fed and organized enough to fight against our common struggles. The Serve The People program aims to help our communities sustain themselves while building solidarity and the means to organize, so that these larger systemic issues can be addressed.

How You Can Help: Any funds donated to the fundraiser go directly towards acquiring and distributing resources to others in our communities. In addition, you can donate essential good items directly to our program by purchasing them from our Amazon Wish list using this link 

Help us build up our communities as we strive to reach the goals stated in the PSL’s program: To build a new society where the needs of working class people, such as food, housing, and healthcare, are treated as fundamental human rights.
