BiCon antiracism work fundraiser

BiCon is an annual convention/conference in the U.K. for people who identify as bisexual or are an ally of the community.  In reality we are a year-round community.

We acknowledge that, being a primarily white community, we have much work to do to unpack and dismantle our collective systemic white supremacy.  Historically, this has dissuaded People of Colour from both attending and returning to BiCon, which is a grave loss for our whole community.

We have been extremely lucky to have support from the Equality Network to run free POC-educator-led antiracism training at this year’s BiCon.  It is our goal to make this mandatory for all attendees in future years. We also want to ensure our training is accessible to all. This will be very challenging without financial investment,  especially in the current climate.

We are looking for funding to pay for ongoing antiracism work.

Initially we aim to use these funds for antiracism training. We want to ensure this training is sustainable in the long term and available in a range of accessible formats.

If we are able to secure additional funds over the target, we will use this for further antiracism work within the UK bisexual community. An example of this might be providing subsidised tickets to BiCon for POC who would otherwise be unable to or find it difficult to attend.

As BiCon is free this year, we would ask that you also consider making a small donation to this fundraiser. We understand that the current pandemic has caused much financial hardship, so we only ask for a donation if you feel able to do so comfortably.  The smallest amount will make the greatest difference.
