Help Communities Rebuild After Manipur Violence

Hi, my name is Mary Giles and I live in Sydney, Australia. I am originally from Manipur, a beautiful state in the Northeast corner of India, but my family and the people living there have been greatly impacted by the violence that erupted on May 3rd, 2023. My mother, a government employee in Imphal, and my sister, a nurse, were forced to flee due to the escalating conflict. Many of my relatives found shelter in relief camps, their lives uprooted, their dreams shattered. They are now scattered across Mizoram, Assam, and even as far as New Delhi, away from their homeland, their culture, and their identity.

The recent violence and displacement of families in Manipur have left the Kuki-Zo community heartbroken. Many people have lost their lives and the violent actions of mobsters, including looting and burning of homes and vehicles have caused many families and communities in Manipur to suffer immense loss. As a result, they have been stripped of their homes, their means of livelihood and their sense of security.

Currently, they are living in a makeshift shelter with no access to clean water or sanitation facilities and struggling to meet their basic needs. This experience moved me deeply and I knew I had to do something to help. That's why I started this fundraising campaign, "Restoring Hopes".

I've heard from families who are in desperate need of assistance and struggling to survive. Through this campaign, my goal is to collaborate with the local organisations and religious groups in Manipur to provide families who have been displaced with essential items such as food, clean water, clothing and shelter.

These funds will be used to provide them with the necessities they need to survive and hope for a better future as they recover from this tragedy. Your support can make a huge difference in the lives of families who have lost everything.

I will ensure that the funds are distributed fairly and transparently to those in need. I will provide regular updates on the progress of the campaign and how the funds are being used. Any amount no matter how small, can make a difference in the lives of those affected.
