For those that don't know me, my name is Chris. I'm the proud father of Gregory, who was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Colon Cancer in October of this last year.
That probably says more than enough about the terrible state of things. Greg is only 33 years old. This news was absolutely devastating. He underwent a colostomy that very weekend.
Despite all that... horror... he has been fighting and stayed positive until recently. Unfortunately, things have taken a hard downturn the last few weeks. We had been informed that we were on a 6-8 week timeline... and just a few days ago, this was shortened to a 2-3 week timeline.
Things are looking worse now. Greg is losing control of his bodily functions and is dealing with confusion. He is on heavy pain management with a pump.
I am also the proud husband of a disabled US Marine Veteran. Alisha is my hero, and being lucky enough to have her as my wife and partner has been the other joy of my life. Taking care of her has been my number one job for over 20 years now. However, that has meant that we've gotten by on a limited fixed income fueled predominantly by her VA benefits. I've done what I can over the years working from home, but it's been a challenge. Just like everyone else these days.
Right now, this has turned into a real disaster. I need to visit Greg IMMEDIATELY if I will have any time left with him. He's been quite content to stay in Michigan, where his life has been. Unfortunately, that's literally 1000 miles away from us.
I'm making arrangements for the trip as I type this. It's going to be in the neighborhood of $1,000 after food and gas for the rental and all. To top things off, I got my regular electric billing message today... and our bill this month is $1,143.87. Which, frankly, I just do not understand. I'll dig into that as I can, but it's absolutely demolished all finances for the foreseeable future.
I'm asking for help. If you can help at all, it would be extremely welcome. Thank you for reading this. I hope that none of you are dealing with anything like what we're dealing with here.
