Like many places of business, Fat Willy's has been closed for the time being due to the Governor’s efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19. As with many other organizations, this closure gave our close knit group of employees only a few hours to access and prepare for the future.
Thus, any funds raised here will go directly to the people most vulnerable in this situation - our prep and line cooks, dishwashers, servers and cashiers. Due to the coronavirus scare, business had already understandably been slow. Now many of us are totally caught off guard, unable to provide for our families or pay bills. Even unemployment benefits are not a valid source of income as they are only providing us with a fraction of what we used to actually make in a week. It is truly a very scary, unprecedented time in our history.
As a unit, we truly love each other and we love serving you. We take great joy in being able to provide a special place for you to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, athletic victories, family reunions and first time get togethers. We are just as grateful for being a part of those simpler gatherings, as well. We are all proud to be in a business that allows our customers to take a break from the mayhem of the day. Its truly wonderful to be part of the process that allows you to relax for an hour or two and take your mind off of the stresses in your world. We adore our everyday conversations with you and feel like we have gotten to know our regulars on a personal basis. Many of you truly feel like family to us, as well.
Therefore, as humbling and embarrassing as it is to ask, we are sending out a plea to you for assistance in our time of need. We know that everyone is financially stressed right now and no one knows what tomorrow is going to bring for them. But if you could donate anything to help keep us afloat during this time of heart wrenching uncertainty, we would be incredibly grateful. As stated above, all funds will go directly to the employees who have found themselves without a reliable means of income for the immediate future. The funds will be withdrawn to our account, and then payment made directly to those dishwashers, prep crew, line cooks, servers and cashiers from the total campaign amount withdrawn.
To show our gratitude, we will keep you up to date on our progress on our Facebook page and other forms of social media. We are all artists, writers and musicians, so expect thank you poems, drawings and other offerings on our platforms in the weeks to come. We truly, truly care about each and every one of you. We wish you health and happiness and moments of peaceful resolve in the days ahead. We can't wait to serve you again, face to face, in a calmer, healthier, more compassionate world.
