Fetal alcohol syndrome awareness Campaign September 9th 2022

 

Hello everyone

My name is Lauren Richardson I am an individual who is living with Fetal alcohol syndrome.

 

I am trying to raise some money to start a center for Fetal alcohol spectrum disorder & Fetal alcohol syndrome this year in Canada.

This center would allow for individuals of any age and walks of life and their families who may suspect that their loved one might have FASD to learn more about the condition and understand the diagnosis. The Center will also offer support for the individuals family to walk with them through the journey of what it means to have FASD and

how to uniquely support them in a positive way.

Also this Center will be available to the public where educators and health care/medical professionals

the police and fire fighters and emergency first responders and judges and lawyers can get education on Fetal alcohol spectrum disorder & Fetal alcohol syndrome and anyone else who wants to learn about it.

My hope is that this center is to bring a lot more awareness and inclusion and understanding to this invisible disability.

Which effects about 5% of our Canadian population thats about 1 in 20 people.

I am ultimately wanting to bring visibility to what is invisible at this moment in time.
