Hi, I’m Fanny!
I study Environmental Studies and International & Public Affairs at Brown, where my research explores how power, participation, and obstruction shape global climate negotiations.
For my honors thesis, I’m using machine learning to analyze 30 years of UN climate talks, trying to understand who’s opposing or delaying ambitious climate action, how those dynamics show up in language, and what that means for the countries and communities most affected by the climate crisis. My goal is to create tools that make these processes more transparent and that can ultimately support Global South delegations who are often left out of key decisions.
Being at COP30 would let me observe in real time how these negotiations unfold (and how they fail) in ways you can’t see from the outside. So much of what matters happens off record, in hallways and informal spaces.
Last year at COP29, I presented at the Global Center for Climate Mobility’s pavilion and met youth and advocates from across the Global South who completely reshaped how I think about climate policy. Going to COP30 would allow me to continue this work, refine my research, and share what I’m learning in ways that can actually serve others trying to make these spaces more equitable and accountable.
I’ve received partial funding from Brown, but I still need support to cover the rest of the trip. Anything helps, truly. Thank you for reading and for helping me get there!
