Sarah and I met in my first year of teaching. God used Sarah to minister to me in my times of need as a teacher. She has remained my best friend as I stepped out of teaching. My husband Jarred and I have become the godparents to her baby girl.

Now it is my turn to help her. Anyer, Sarah’s husband, was going in for his annual check-in with ICE this past week and was detained in office. After meeting with lawyers, his best course of action is to accept being deported to Venezuela and apply for citizenship through marriage there. Unfortunately this process will take 3-5 years. At that point his daughter, my Godbaby, will be 5 years old when her father is able to return. Sarah will now be a single mother as she awaits her husband’s return. She was not even able to hug him goodbye. Sarah will need support for the lawyer fees, travel to Venezuela, and general expenses for a single income household while raising a child.
