Hi, my name is Tecca Virkler (maiden name Keever) and I'm seeking to raise funds for my brother and his family. Last night, Christmas Eve Eve night, their home started on fire.

Due to the extreme cold and wind in Ohio, the five fire departments that were present to help fight the fire were unsuccessful because the water froze in their hoses. Their home is a smoldering heap of ashes this morning. The family of 7 was able to escape with the clothes on their backs and what shoes they wore out. We are so thankful that they are safe.

It is hard to wrap our heads around being safe and comfortable, looking forward to unwrapping presents, and the next moment helplessly watching your home and belongings reduced to ashes. A lone bicycle for their youngest of 5 children in the detached garage is what remains of their Christmas presents; the rest were lost in the fire.

While many of us might be doing last-minute shopping and then settling in for an evening and Christmas tomorrow with family, this family is out shopping for the basic necessities; food and clothing. The magnitude of what is needed to rebuild likely has not yet sunk in fully.

We have set up this fundraiser for those that have the means and interest in helping this family through Christmas and into the new year to begin to rebuild their lives. Funds would be used to purchase gifts for Christmas, clothing, food, and help to find shelter until other arrangements are made.
