Help Family of 5 boys, The McLee Fam find a home.

Hi, my name is Ashley and I am raising funds for the Mclee Family.

The McLee's are a family of seven. Mom, Dad, and 5 boys! Two teens, 16 & 18, a 10 yr old (Amaru in the picture,) a 6 yr old (Tafari, also in the picture in the backseat) and baby Khari, 1 yr old.

Until recently, they were happily renting a house in The College Park neighborhood of Raleigh for the last 8 months. During this time my sons and their sons became best friends and daily playmates. Due to the owner of the house they were renting wanting to sell, they were given only 30 days notice to move out. During that time they took the owner to court, requesting more time to stay in the home in hopes of finding another rental before having to move out. They were given an additional month to stay but because so many others are seeking affordable housing in the area, they were not able to secure a new place in that time. Sadly, they left all furniture behind, and many clothes, in the rental because they had no place to move their things into.

They are on (very long) waitlists for affordable housing, waitlists for acceptance into shelters (they want to stay together, obviously & It's much harder to accommodate a large family.) They have applied to nearly all available rentals in the area but were told that because they did not make 3x's the rent amount per month that they did not qualify, or that their family was too large for the rental. They have no family left in the area, and no working vehicle. Needing to stay close to downtown for the Dad's job, with access to the bus line, they were left with the option of staying in a hotel for the past few weeks.

As you can imagine, already living paycheck to paycheck, a hotel quickly drained what minimal savings they had and they are now officially homeless.

This family is deserving of help. They are loving, they work hard, do the right things, and it is heartbreaking to see this sweet family so hopeless and without a home.

Please, give what you can. Whether it is a donation, a connection, or affordable housing, even a helpful resource perhaps they haven't heard of.

Donations will be used to provide housing. The goal is to secure an apartment or house they can afford, or a short term rental until more income becomes available for them. Any help will be so appreciated by this family.
