Family Needing Help After Sudden Loss

Alice's long-time partner and father figure to her three children passed away suddenly on March 23, one day after his 58th birthday.

Steve and Alice navigated life together as partners in the truest sense, with grace and humor in the face of one another's flaws, and with deep clarity about their love for (and value to) one another. During the many years of my friendship with Alice, I have never known her to be as grounded and as secure in herself as she was in her relationship with Steve, who worked hard to provide safety, stability, acceptance, and love for Alice and her three daughters, Lorelai, Holland, and Margot. Steve was an anchor in a storm for them, and they are devastated by this loss.

Because they were not legally married, Steve's unexpected death has placed Alice and her daughters in a complicated financial situation, and they need immediate support to supplement Alice's small income from substitute teaching. Contributions to this GoFundMe will ensure that the family has a place to live through the remainder of the school year, so the girls are not uprooted from their home in the midst of this painful experience.
