Since 2013 Hester Ravensbergen and her four children (Joshua, Ian, Noah and Elize), have lived without a husband, father and provider. Paul & Hester began their family in British Columbia, Canada 11 years earlier, but moved back to the Netherlands (Hester's homeland) in 2012.
Elize was barely a year old when her papa passed away unexpectedly of a brain aneurysm, at the age of 41. She has no memories of her father. The boys do have some memories of their dad and their early years in Canada, and frequently ask questions about him..."do I look like Papa? Did Papa enjoy this too? Was he funny? What was his favorite food?" They have also been asking when they can go visit their cousins in Canada and go to all the places their dad took them when they were little.
Hester has courageously raised their four children on her own, barely making ends meet on a widow's pension. A trip to Canada would be financially impossible. As well, Hester was recently diagnosed with burnout. We, as family, have been attempting to save money towards a trip fund for them, by collecting change, selling homemade art cards, and receiving gifts from family and friends. However, at this rate it would take 5 more years before enough was saved to bring them over.
If we could raise $10,000 to bring Hester and the children to Canada for an 8-10 week stay, within the next year, it would give Hester a much needed break and allow the children to revisit their roots and reconnect with their extended family. Funds raised would cover the cost of flights, living expenses during their stay, and the rental of a small motorhome for traveling and sleeping while visiting various family and friends in BC.
This fundraising was started by the Rodermond family: Harold, Jerune (sister to Paul), Jenna, Daniel, Benjamin and Tessa. We hope you will consider partnering with us in blessing this family with a special trip.
