Hello friends and family! I’ve never set up a go-fund-me before, but I can’t make a dent in this situation on my own so I’m asking for help!
My brother married my college roommate and friend, Alissa. They had 3 beautiful children together. Over the years things went really wrong and she finally had to divorce him. He has spent the last three years fighting her over literally EVERYTHING. Her legal bills have gone over $100k at last count, leaving her deeply in debt and struggling to pay bills.
It came to her attention a few weeks ago that HHS (Health & Human Services, similar to CPS) is involved with things at his home. She was informed of some very disturbing incidents and told that there was great concern for the kid’s welfare. This week she received news that the investigation is being dropped based on missed deadlines (by investigators), and she would need to do it on her own through an attorney.
She is working long hours cleaning houses just to pay bills and cannot afford an attorney. She has tried finding a pro-bono attorney but none are available for court. Even a reduced-cost attorney is telling her it could be $20-25,000 for a custody case.
It is my belief that my nieces and nephew need to be with their mom. It pains me to say that, but my brother and his new wife are not treating these kids well and I know my sister-in-law is not doing this out of malice or spite. She has tried to give him the benefit of the doubt and has been praying for peace for many years...but the time has come that she has to protect her kids.
