Family Is Everything: Help Lorena Through This Crisis

I’m reaching out on behalf of my dear friend Lorena, who recently had to unexpectedly fly back to Peru from Canada due to a sudden and heartbreaking family emergency. She is now facing one of the most difficult moments of her life as her mother battles a serious medical condition.

Lorena’s mom recently suffered a sudden medical emergency and was diagnosed with hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, a serious condition caused by a lack of oxygen and blood flow to the brain. This life-altering diagnosis has turned their world upside down.

Lorena’s mom is a fun, loving, and caring woman — the kind of person who brings warmth and joy wherever she goes. Now, she’s fighting for her life, and Lorena is by her side every moment, caring for her around the clock in the hospital.

With this full-time responsibility, Lorena is unable to work and is now carrying the full weight of their living expenses including rent, groceries, and bills all on her own.

Lorena and her mom have always leaned on each other. With no other family support system, they’ve been each other’s rock. But now, Lorena can’t do this alone.
