Family in need after 370 Ocean Ave fire

On Tuesday, June 21st, a fire broke out at an apartment building on Ocean Ave, which displaced many families. One of those families is from our East Boston YMCA Child Care Community. Nicole Avellaneda enrolled her daughter, Isabella, into our child care in September 2022.

Today, July 6th, a notice was issued from the Department of Public Health that 370 Ocean Ave is deemed unsafe to live in. This news makes the displacement indefinite for Nicole and Isabella. Though they have a space to stay in, it is temporary and unrealistic for a mother and young child.

We are raising funds to help Nicole find an apartment in a short matter of time. The funds will pay for the first month, last month, and the security deposit for an apartment. Any additional funds can be used to furnish Nicole and Isabella's apartment.
