Recently, our dad was diagnosed with bone marrow cancer, and my grandmother on our mom’s side was placed on hospice because her heart is giving out. My sister and I have made plans to drive to North Carolina to spend time with our dad, care for him, and help our stepmother, Lynn, with appointments and give her a bit of a break as she’s been running back and forth the last month and a half after his diagnosis. Then we will turn around and fly to Oregon so I can be with my sister as we say goodbye to our grandma. I planned on my last trip to my grandma to be the last, but my sister would really like me to be with her as she says goodbye to our sweet grandma. With all this comes lots of expenses, such as travel, lodging, food, gas, plane tickets, and of course, the bills still keep coming. Altogether, we will both be missing about a month of work.
