Want to make a difference this season? We are looking to raise $2,500 to help over 50 families have the Christmas they deserve. COVID-19 has made a worldly impact, but even more so in 3rd world countries. Here in Uganda, things have been locked down for months, people have lost their jobs and some are even still banned from selling their product due to the government lockdown.
We want to do our best to help these parents provide for their families. We have decided to put together a basket of supplies to help each family during this hard time. Costing $40 per family, we are hoping to give each family the following:
- 1 basin
- 4 rolls of toilet paper
- 2 tubs of vaseline
- 1 litre cooking oil
- Royco seasoning
- 2 packs spaghetti
- Matchboxes
- 5 kg of sugar
- 5 toothpaste/toothbrushes
- 2 bars of washing soap
- 1 kg of washing powder
- 2 boxes tea leaves
- 2 pouches salt
- Pilau Masala seasoning
- 10 kg rice (not pictured)
- 1 deck of playing cards
The items donated will help these families have the Christmas they will never forget. We also are raising a little extra to help with transportation fees (i.e. traveling to deliver baskets, or paying for a family member to come pick up the basket from our house).
Here in Uganda, it is common for most families to wake up early on Christmas morning to prepare for the day. The kids spend the morning cleaning the compound, while the women begin preparing the food. Once things are cleaned and prepared they bathe and put on their new "Christmas clothes". With their heads held high, they go enjoy the days celebrations at church. While they are worshiping their stomachs growl for what is waiting for them at home. They rush home and get to enjoy the foods they might only get once a year - Chicken, pilau rice, macaroni, greens, gnuts (peanut sauce), matooke (plantains), and maybe even meat.
With this donation, we will be able to help over 50 families enjoy this day, worry free! Like stated above, each basket will cost about $40. Please consider donating a basket worth today. Please know that every dollar donated will go to good use.
