After the recent horrific massacre in a Kabul maternity ward, 20 motherless babies are in desperate need of care. The families of these babies were poor to start off with. Without mothers to care for them they have little hope of survival.
The little girl, pictured, is Amena. She is one of the 20 babies who survived. Her mother was killed two hours after giving birth and Amena suffered gunshot wounds to her right leg. She was named by my courageous cousin,
Dr. Ghazal Sharifi Maher, who found her in the hospital about to have her leg amputated. A mother herself, Dr. Ghazal Sharifi Maher stopped the amputation process and took her to the French Medical Institute for Children (FMIC) where her leg was saved with multiple operations. These operations were financed by Dr. Ghazal Sharifi Maher and the surgeon. But Amena is not the only baby who needs help.
The families of Amena and 19 other babies are at a loss, to say the least. They have lost their mothers. Many of these families are now left without an at-home carer as their fathers are the only bread winners. And some babies don't have a home to go to at all.
This page is set up to provide these babies with a chance of survival.
All money raised will be directly distributed to the families of the surviving babies and used to ensure these babies get the best possible care.
As parents we know it takes a village to bring up a child. Please be part of the village for these babies.
