Over the past few weeks I’ve been thinking a lot about how difficult this time of year can be for many families. With Christmas approaching, some are facing real financial hardship, others are coping with loss, and many are simply struggling to get through the season.

I wanted to do something practical that might offer a bit of support, even in a small way. So I came up with the idea to cycle from Salthill in Galway to Salthill in Dublin - 230 km in a single day - to raise some much needed money for families who genuinely could do with some additional assistance this Christmas.

I’m very grateful that Adrian is joining me on the bike for the full journey, and that Jared Huet is providing support on the road along the way. This was a last-minute idea, but one we’re committed to because the need is real, and every contribution will go directly to helping families who are going through an incredibly tough time.
