Família Faria
Don protégé
Hi,My name is Vitor Santos I'm a President to Associação Migrante Barcelos we are fundraising for Faria Family.
Request for financial assistance from the Faria family. It was 12 years ago that the Faria family decided to venture out and give themselves a shot at the Canadian dream. At the time they were only three: Rui, 37, his wife Susana, 36, and their daughter Inês, 8, as they arrived in Toronto, in 2012, hopeful for a prosperous new life. Everything went smoothly for the first four years in this new country, adapting well to the incidences of their new normal. The only exception was their continued seeking of the legalization they so wanted in this new country that had welcomed them so warmly and with open arms.In 2016, everything changed when Susana received terrible news. She had been diagnosed with breast cancer! At the same time, she became pregnant with a son, Hugo, and their happy, prosperous life suddenly turned into a nightmare..And so begins the fight against a merciless disease.Susana's cancer was terrible! It spread from her breasts to her bones, and then to her lungs.Rui found himself caught up in a constant accumulation of problems, with substantial hospital and medication costs, along with the normal expenses of raising a family. And to make matters more difficult, their status in this country meant they couldn't get the help they needed, not from anyone!Rui now carried all the responsibility of supporting the family and helping with Susana’s treatments and hospitalizations. The only answer was to work more and more and more…And so the years went by on this path. Over time, Inês grew up, and as an adult woman had to work part-time to help her father make ends meet.Hugo Is beginning to understand the torment and suffering that his mother and, consequently, the family are going through. Inês is now 20 years old and, after being accepted to university, finds herself forced to postpone her studies and start working full-time to help her father cover all the expenses!Hugo, now 8 years old, is a child who feels bitter about his mother’s health. And Rui, 49, spreads himself thin trying to keep up with his chores and responsibilities. Two weeks ago, Susana, now 48, had a strange relapse and the diagnoses came back for the worst. The cancer had also spread to her liver and the results of the medical tests gave her between 3 weeks and 3 months to live! The Faria family’s torment increases significantly and with no time to spare. Their only alternative is to ask for help to give Susana the comfort she needs and deserves in the last days of her life. At least that…Inês eventually obtains a work permit, Hugo is Canadian, and Rui is still waiting for a permanent residence permit. But Susana has been denied hers due to her health situation! The hospital ordered her to leave, as there was nothing more that could be done…and this was the beginning of another setback in this family’s life. With no financial support, no place for Susana to live out the last days of her life comfortably with the necessary palliative care, this family is in even more agony. In time, some contacts were made, and an alternative solution appeared on the horizon. In the course of a week, practically everything was mapped out and seemed to come to a resolution – they secured a house for Susana and guaranteed palliative care for her, in addition to psychological support for little Hugo. But it wasn’t meant to be. Susana couldn’t endure her suffering any longer, and last Saturday, November 9th, said her final goodbyes to her loved ones forever. The accumulated debts are the Faria family's greatest difficulties.Hospital expenses are already at $48,200.00, not counting the last month still to be calculated, and the funeral expenses are $11,326.00. Among other things…Rui, Inês, and Hugo desperately need financial help to try and restart their lives after all this suffering.I come to you now, for all of the reasons above, to sincerely ask you to support the Faria family.Thank you in advance for your efforts and commitment to this cause.Thank you very much.
