Anthony Ambrosino (52), a local 3 worker, born and raised in Howard Beach, Queens, passed on October 7th, 2020 after suffering and battling ALS for the last few years. He was a beloved father to four wonderful children, Anthony (20), Sonny (18), Alexandra (16), and Salvatore (11), and an outstanding husband and best friend to his wife Rachele. Rachele and Anthony met when she was only just 13 and he was 17, the start of their beautiful life together. Anthony was a selfless man, who always did what was asked of him, and touched every person that came in contact with him. He was a softball, and baseball coach, mentor to many, and inspiration to all. Anthony was a family man, and when he cared for you, he showed it in so many ways. He chose to consistently see the good in everything, and has inspired so many to do the same.
All watched as Anthony began to slowly lose muscle mass, become more fatigued, and have more consistent days of not feeling like himself. It was truly heartbreaking to see the strength of a man and his family being tested, but nevertheless, they prevailed because they had each other. Anthony did whatever he could for the people he loved and cherished, and the faith he had was unwavering. ALS is a horrible disease, and we pray for the strength of all that have to watch another family member or loved one endure what we witnessed.
The devastation that shook not only the Ambrosino family, but all of Howard Beach and beyond, can truly not be described in words. We are suffering a massive loss, and losing a diamond in the rough.
He leaves behind this exceptional family and that is what and who this is for; his family. Those children and his wife; the people he fought to stay here for every single day. No matter what it is, please give and send love as this is for their future that is lacking a missing puzzle piece.
