In November 2024, our lives changed in an instant—but even then, God’s presence was undeniable.
My husband, Nick, suffered a severe brain bleed, and we came so close to losing him. While the road to recovery has been long, we are incredibly grateful every day that he is still here!! Life looks very different now—Nick will likely never work or drive again and needs support with certain tasks—but this season has drawn us closer together and deepened our trust in God.
When he was hospitalized, life—and my ability to continue working multiple jobs—came to a complete standstill. Since then, I’ve been incredibly blessed to continue in my role as Worship Director at our church. Their support and the flexibility in my schedule have been a true gift, allowing me to care for “my boys” while still working.
With rising living costs and significant changes to Medicare coverage, Nick’s medications and our other expenses have become much more difficult to manage. We’ve reached a point where we can no longer afford to stay in our home. While it’s hard to leave a place we love, we trust that moving into an apartment is part of God’s provision for our family.
Through it all, we have not been alone! By God’s grace, and through the kindness of friends, family, and food pantries, we have been carried further than we could have made it on our own.
In the midst of everything, we’ve also received a beautiful surprise: we are expecting a baby boy this July!!! Ryder is so excited to become a big brother, and his joy brings so much light into our days!
As we prepare for this transition and welcome our new baby, some dear friends from our church life group have offered to set up this GoFundMe to support us during this season.
Our family—Nick (42), Ashlee (33), Ryder (3), and soon our newest little boy—is choosing faith, hope, and gratitude each day. We trust fully in God’s plan for our lives!
If you feel led to support us—through giving, prayer, or sharing our story—we are deeply grateful.
