This account is created to assist Craig (Furley) Fleming Sr., who currently serves a mandatory life sentence for a non-violent drug distribution offense. Due to the passage of the FIRST STEP Act, signed by President Trump, Craig can petition the Federal Court for re-sentencing. This Act reduces lengthy mandatory minimums and applies the Fair Sentencing Act retroactively.
Craig was sentenced in 1996 and has missed 22 years of birthday celebrations, holidays, graduations and funerals (the passing of two brothers were the hardest to miss). Despite the circumstance, he continues to keep in touch with family and friends and maintain a positive outlook on life. While incarcerated, he has obtained multiple certifications, taken victim impact classes and has been an active participant in the church for 20 years. He is an inspiration to all of us!
Donations will afford him the ability to obtain a GOOD lawyer, which is essential because the FIRST STEP Act will only allow one attempt to petition for re-sentencing (we have to make this attempt count!). Funds may also assist him with obtaining immediate essential items upon future release.
