I am imploring on the kind generosity of friends, family and strangers alike. My ex husband has yet again taken me to court, over custody of our two girls, aged 9 and 10. The evidence relied upon were old, unsubstantiated records which bear no relevance to the current situation. I had to attend court unrepresented due to lack of finances and was not given the opportunity to make a statement with current supporting documentation, before an interim order was made.
During the course of our marriage/ or for over a decade, I was financially controlled, with any opportunity to resume after maternity leave or forge out my previous career path, blocked. During this time, I was committed to and enjoyed being a full time stay at home mum for our girls, a season that brought me immense pleasure as well as keeping a home. My ex husband is in a highly paid employment thus, enabling him to have the best legal representation.
I need to raise urgent funds to overturn the decision made on the 12/12/19 for me to not see my girls. This ruling will further devastate them in the midst of grieving the death of my mother, whom they were unable to see during her illness as a result of ongoing custodial disputes and whose funeral we were unable to attend and provide them with closure. The girls need me to offer them that comfort and walk them through our joint loss and I too, need them. We were looking forward to spending Christmas together and have not spent a Christmas season apart, and it breaks my heart to imagine one without them. These precious girls have gone through things that no child should have to endure and we have made great in roads in establishing a new norm. My desire is to be given the opportunity to see them and spend time with them over the Christmas and New Year and hence, enable them to resume a semblance of normality.
I am appealing to you all at a time of the year when all our finances are stretched, to please donate what you can. The legal system affords me with a limited window of a few days in which to proceed with an appeal hence, this plea is sent with the utmost urgency.
