The Suffering of Sham
My name is Fadi Abu Ali, and I want to share with you a painful story that reflects hope. I live in Gaza, where the sounds of explosions rise and the fires of war blaze. One day, our area was heavily bombed, and amidst the chaos, I found a small girl named Sham, the daughter of my neighbors, who lost everything in an instant.
I was at home when I heard screams and the sound of explosions. I rushed outside to see what was happening, and when I arrived at the scene, I found little Sham sitting alone among the rubble, her eyes filled with tears, searching for her family. Her father and mother had been killed in the bombing, and she didn’t know where to go.
When I approached her, she looked at me with sad eyes and asked, "Where is Mama?" I couldn’t hold back my tears, and I gently hugged her. I told her, "Don’t be afraid, I will be here for you." But inside, I felt the weight of responsibility. How could I care for her in such harsh conditions?
I took Sham to my home, where I tried to provide her with everything she needed—food and clothes. However, I soon realized that my financial situation did not allow me to take on the responsibility of this child alone. I was struggling with economic difficulties and couldn’t provide for her basic needs, especially with the tough living conditions in Gaza.
So far, we have not received any assistance from humanitarian organizations or individuals. I feel helpless in front of this huge responsibility, and I know I urgently need support from the community. I started sharing her story on social media, asking everyone to donate to help us.
Sham, who has lost her family, needs new hope and support. I cannot do this alone. I urge people to respond to our plea and help us provide food, clothing, healthcare, and anything that can help build a better future for Sham.
Our story shows that humanity still exists, even in the darkest of times, and that hope can be planted in the hearts of the smallest children, only if we all come together for them. Please, help us care for Sham; she deserves all the love and support in this harsh world.
