Face Gaiter

The Made By Britain campaign and the facegaiter.org website are being run by a small group of volunteers most of whom come from small businesses in the local Stirling area but we also have support from volunteers in Nottingham and the USA. The team worked really hard to get this up in a short space of time and I am really grateful for all of their efforts.

Our mission:

We believe that covering your face provides source control and this helps reduce the transmission of COVID-19.

We believe that a face gaiter is the best way to do that, that it is easy to make, easy to wear and can be effectively cleaned and reused hundreds of times.

We believe a face gaiter should be available to everyone who needs one.

Our aim:

I am running this as a not for profit and don’t want to make any money from this until everyone in the UK who needs a face gaiter has a face gaiter. All face gaiters we supply will be free.

We have a very small team and we still need to sell our own products in order to pay our bills and keep employing our staff.  I think we can do this and still make around 1000 face gaiters a week and we have started to do this.

But I think we can do more!

We have a fancy fabric cutting machine and can cut many more pieces than we can sew, my fabric supplier has already donated enough fabric for 12,000 face gaiters and another company is also offering fabric.

I already believe face gaiters are good solution but we have a lot of expertise so we are also testing improvements and reaching out to specialists to help make face gaiter the best that it can be. Everything we learn will be shared on www.facegaiter.org

I estimate it costs my company just £3 to pay for all of the labour and materials needed to make a face gaiter. With your support we could scale up production in Stirling and help other companies start production. If you would like to donate a small amount then we will put it to good use.

We hope you will be given a face gaiter but if you do need to buy a face gaiter by our assessment we believe the fair market value is £10 for a high quality, homemade or factory made face gaiter and you should not have to pay more than this.

Thank you for reading this, I hope you will join our movement to do everything we can to reduce the transmission of COVID-19.

Take the pledge, spread the word and stay safe.
