Food & Beverage Buddies (FABB)
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Steve and I'm cycling 1,500km from London to Edinburgh and back in just 5 days (3rd–8th August) to raise at least £1,000 for Food and Beverage Buddies (FABB), an extraordinary Norwich-based volunteer group tackling food poverty and insecurity.
Founded 6 years ago by the inspirational Carol McWhinnie, FABB supports the homeless, vulnerable, and hungry across our Fine City and surrounding areas. Every week, their dedicated volunteers:
- Rescue unsold food from major supermarkets to prevent landfill waste
- Transform it into nutritious meals and food parcels
- Support anyone in need—quickly and for as long as necessary
Right now, FABB helps up to 250 people weekly, including:
- 31 women in a city centre hostel
- 6 young men in another hostel
- 50+ families and individuals across the community
- Rural schools, elderly lunch clubs, and 4 village community tables
- Outreach through 4 partner groups and excess bakery distribution at St John’s Cathedral
But demand is rising while donations are falling. The average cost of a food parcel has jumped from £2 to £3—and could hit £4+ by year-end.
Your donation will help fund three large freezers, allowing FABB to safely store surplus food, reduce waste, and protect against supply disruptions—like the recent M&S cyber attack that halted donations and led to shortages.
Please give what you can—every pound truly makes a difference.
Share this widely, and thank you for helping a group that’s quite literally a lifeline for so many.
