#Shhhhhhh

It's our little secret...........

It’s hard for victims of trauma to tell their story. It's especially hard for children to tell their story. It’s hard for loved ones to hear the stories ..... particularly when it’s been years of sexual abuse, or domestic violence, which they knew nothing about.

Maybe those who were abused simply didn’t know that what was happening to them is just plain wrong.
Or maybe they thought things would get worse by telling their story or that they should protect their loved ones from knowing the truth.

So they didn’t tell anyone their secrets, because who would believe them?  Who could help them anyway?

And the shame that follows those secrets? It's indescribable and destructive. Without access to support when it’s needed, shame continues to feed the cycle of trauma-related mental issues for years beyond the time the abuse stops. Countless lives are profoundly affected in many negative ways. Even more sadly, many people don’t survive this abuse.

I am astounded and deeply confronted at the level of childhood sexual abuse and domestic violence taking place in our Universe. So, to try and help young boys and girls who have experienced sexual abuse, and families experiencing domestic violence, I’m on a mission to raise as much funding as I can to support Rosie's Place Inc.

Rosie's Place Inc. is a not-for-profit organisation providing 1:1 counselling and group support programs for children, adolescents and adults suffering from the impacts of sexual abuse or domestic violence. Rosie’s Place serves the Sydney Western Suburbs area via community service referrals with a current  wait list to access such services of approximately 3-4 months. Can you imagine living with the impacts of abuse and feeling the desperation of continuing day after day without the direct support you need?

I want to make a significant and ongoing contribution to Rosie’s Place so the team of skilled counsellors can do more of their important work rather than spending so much of their time preparing government grants and seeking charity donations in order to keep their organisation running. My goal is to raise as much funding as possible to reduce the wait times for clients referred to Rosie’s Place. I am challenging myself to become as strong as I can be, both physically and mentally, by walking the Kokoda trail in October this year. I am challenging you to help me with my cause by digging deep and donating as much as you are able.

Every single donation will be used to help empower our most vulnerable children. After all, they are tomorrow's future.

Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause which means so much to me.
