Hello, we are the parents of the grade 3 class at the Trillium Waldorf School. We are assisting Renata Freibergova, our children's teacher, in her effort to build an apartment suite in her basement to supplement her income. Renata is a single mother of two boys, and her mortgage has recently come up for renewal. As many of you are aware, the increase in mortgage rates has been challenging for many, and it's especially tough for Renata. Her monthly income will now just cover her mortgage payments, leaving little funds for essential expenses like heating, electricity, gas for her car, or food for her family.
One solution to this challenge is to build a 2-bedroom basement apartment in Renata's house to provide an additional source of income.
So far, we've successfully raised:
- $19,000 for building materials from a private donation and electrical materials from Gerrie Electric
- $15,000 for electrical labour from Blais Electric
- $2,000 of appliances from Danby
However, we still need an additional $12,500 to cover the cost of labour and additional materials required for:
- Hiring a tiler to install a shower
- Employing a plumber to plumb in a new kitchen and fix the existing bathroom
- Acquiring kitchen (cabinets, sink, stove, countertops)
- Purchasing doors for the unit
- Hiring contractors to finish these jobs.
We, the parents of the Grade 3 class, deeply appreciate Renata's commitment to our children. Many have already extended their generosity through funds, skills, time, and unwavering support. We firmly believe in the adage: "It takes a village to raise a child." Similarly, it takes a collective effort to support a devoted teacher. Will you join us in this cause?
