Support for My Mom After My Dad’s Passing

Hi, everyone,

My name is Sierra Morton, and I am humbly asking for your help in supporting my mom after the devastating loss of my father on November 17, 2024.

My dad had been in and out of the hospital for most of my life due to complications from diabetes, which eventually led to the loss of his leg. Despite his health challenges, he was the rock of our family—especially during difficult times. When I was 14, my dad endured a heartbreaking series of losses: his mother, his father, and my oldest brother Harry, all within three months. Through it all, he remained a source of strength for my mom, supporting her emotionally and physically even as his health declined.

My parents were married for 42 years, and my mom has always been by his side, caring for him despite her own health challenges. She has a genetic condition called Factor V Leiden that both me and my brother have as well, which causes blood clots, and she has also faced severe heart issues. At one point, she was bedridden for a few weeks due to blood clots in her legs and feet. Now, she is grieving the loss of her life partner while facing mounting financial challenges and her own health issues. She is scheduled to have surgery in December.

My father’s illness left my family struggling in many ways, especially financially. My mom is trying to secure survivor benefits, and my siblings are doing everything they can to help. I’ve already raised a decent amount of money to assist with bills and the house, but my mom is still behind on payments after weeks of hospital visits, and caregiving took priority.

I am doing everything possible to support her during this incredibly difficult time, but we need help. My mom has lost her partner, her strength, and her stability, and I want to give her some peace as she navigates this new chapter of her life.
