Hello, I am Katie’s sister and our family has come together in trying to raise some funds to help Katie take some weight off her shoulders.

Last week she fell ill and came down with horrible body aches, headache, high fever and a bad pain on her right side. On Friday August 8th she went to the ER to see what was going on and the triage nurse tested for the flu and Covid and both came back negative. Unfortunately after two hours of waiting to get a room, Katie decided to head home as she wasn’t feeling well and just wanted rest. Over the weekend she was not getting better so on Monday August 11th, my mom brought her back to the ER where she was able to get in right away this time. After a CT scan and bloodwork, it was shown she needed her gallbladder removed. On top of that, a culture also detected a kidney infection or UTI. A couple hours later Katie went to surgery and the Dr successfully removed her gallbladder and said it looked angry and it was definitely infected. The next day, bloodwork showed Katie also has sepsis. Luckily they started antibiotics the day of surgery just to be safe. Typically with this surgery a patient is able to go home the same day but with the sepsis and pain she has been in, she is still in the hospital (hopefully coming home today, August 14th).
