North Hills Green Aquaponics Eagle Project

Hi, my name is Evan Orienza- I am a senior at North Hills High School and a member of Troop 368, and I am starting this fundraising campaign for my Eagle Project. My project would consist of constructing an aquaponics system with a built-in waste collection unit, a green solar energy system, and insulating the greenhouse which will house the aquaponics system at my high school.

 

Aquaponics is a form of gardening where the plants and fish that are grown in the system benefit each other. Both the fish and crops would be put towards the cooking assignments at the school and having this system increases the incentive to use the greenhouse. The solar energy system would be used to power any needed equipment for the aquaponics system and will kick in during blackouts to keep the fish alive
