Myself (Meagan) and my partner Tim are reaching out to ask for help for our little girl, Zoe.

Zoe is only 3 years old and has been diagnosed with Leigh’s syndrome—a rare, progressive, and life-limiting condition. We have been told her life expectancy is limited. Since hearing this, our entire world has shifted. Every day is about caring for her, keeping her comfortable, and trying to make the most of the time we have with her.

Zoe lives with significant disabilities and relies on a wheelchair. One of the hardest parts of our daily life right now is something most people don’t think twice about—getting from one place to another. Our current vehicle cannot accommodate her wheelchair, which means every trip involves lifting her in and out.

As she grows, this is becoming more than just difficult—it is becoming unsafe. We worry about hurting her fragile body just trying to get her to the medical appointments and therapies she needs. There are times where the physical strain and risk make even leaving the house feel overwhelming.

Zoe also has a baby sister who needs to be safely transported too. Managing both girls, along with Zoe’s wheelchair and medical equipment, has made even simple outings incredibly stressful and, at times, feel impossible. Things many families take for granted—appointments, fresh air, time together outside the home—have become major challenges for us.

We are asking for help to purchase a wheelchair-accessible vehicle. This would allow Zoe to remain safely in her chair while travelling, reducing risk, easing the physical strain on us, and making it possible to get both of our daughters where they need to be safely.

More than that, it would give Zoe comfort and dignity, and give us the chance to focus less on the struggle and more on spending meaningful time together as a family.

The cost of a modified vehicle is far beyond what we can manage on our own. Asking for help is not easy, but we have reached a point where we truly need it.
