Ezra Gulliver's Fight

Donation protected
Hi, My name is Christina , and I am raising funds for a close friend and her family.

Marie & Lee received some devastating news this past Tuesday, May 17th. Their son Ezra (almost two years old) was not acting himself lately with low energy and just not being his crazy self. Usually, he would be running around with his older brother Eli and being TYPICAL boys. They took him to an appointment on Tuesday as he was getting worse and slowly stopped eating. It quickly became critical as they were told that his blood work came back with signs that there was a high chance he had Leukemia and needed a blood transfusion ASAP. They were airlifted from Peterborough to Sick Kids that night.

We are trying to help as much as possible as Marie & Lee are both self-employed and are no longer working during this time. Lee was a paramedic for 13 years and recently transitioned to being a farmer & Marie has been a Registered Massage Therapist for the past 13 years. They found out this past Thursday that Ezra will need to stay in the hospital for a minimum of 4 months while undergoing chemo and blood & platelet transfusions. This will be a substantial financial stress for the family. Marie is also 5 months pregnant, and if all goes well, the hospital stay will take her right to her due date. We are trying to take as much stress off their shoulders as the bills are going to add up.

Any amount you can donate will mean so much. But, if you cannot contribute financially, please donate blood as so many people are in need, and this is what is helping save Ezra's life.

It is a tough time for Marie & Lee to communicate as their world has turned upside down. Here is the latest update.

Message from Marie & Lee:

“Ezra has officially been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Aka a blood cancer in children. Specifically in the bone marrow.

He has had 3 platelet transfusion and 5 blood transfusions since admission on Tuesday evening to sick kids. He has underwent a CVL insertion and a bone marrow biopsy.  He will officially be starting Chemo Saturday May 21st.

His treatment is four months of hospitalization, extensive chemo, blood and platelet transfusions, and possibly a marrow transplant.
His blood type is A+, but the platelet donors can be anyone.

We strongly encourage people to donate because that's what initially is saving his life.

Once Ezra is in remission, he will have lifelong appointments to observe his heart and blood.

Ezra will lose his hair and have mild to severe chemo reactions, but that will be determined by how his body responds. He has 4 'blocks' or sets of chemo, each 28 days long. After each block, they do a bone marrow biopsy to see if there is any Leukemia in the sample.

Due to covid restrictions, no siblings are allowed in the hospital other than extraordinary circumstances like birthdays, etc. Ezra will be 2 years old on May 29th. We hope Ezra and Eli will get to reunite next week for his birthday in the hospital room.

Ezra will miss his brother greatly as he battles for his life.”
