SPONSORING REFUGEE WELCOME CORPS GROUP TSION

Hello, my name is Helen Tesfamichael. I have formed a group of five individuals to sponsor a family of refugees through the "Welcome Corps" program launched by the US Department of State in 2023. Our group, called "TSION" Is fundraising for specific refugees through the Welcome Corps Phase 2 program to strengthen communities. Members of the sponsorship group include Helen Tesfamichael, Tewodros Kumsa, Kenean Yacob, Rekik Endashaw, Weynshet Beyene.

We need to raise at least $10,000. The funds will provide housing, education, employment opportunities, and other necessary expenses for the newcomers adjusting to life in the United States.

Based on "Welcome Corps" guidance, we must raise $2,500 per family member to sponsor a family. Our goal is to support 3 family members, and we have set the goal to raise $10,000 to ensure that the family has adequate support to become settled and self-sufficient. This ensures that we are adequately prepared to support a family in finding their first home (security deposit, rent for the first few months), furnishing the apartment, and supporting a family with their basic needs (food, clothing, etc.) as they settle into their new community.

Will you consider donating to support our efforts in sponsorship? Your donation will cover the costs of supporting a family to settle in Rockville, MD. If we raise more than we need, we will donate the remaining amount to a general pool at Alight that supports sponsorship.
