Help Me Rebuild: A Fresh Start Toward Stability and Independence
Hi, my name is Christopher Ruby, and I’m reaching out in a moment of deep need and hope.
Life has thrown many challenges my way. For most of my childhood, my dad raised my sister and me on his own while navigating significant financial challenges. Despite working hard, he was never able to get ahead. About four years ago, we were forced to move due to rising living costs and ended up staying with my aunt. Sadly, she was later diagnosed with cancer, which deeply affected her personality and behavior.
During that time, tensions in the household rose — including issues with a dog she adopted that frequently showed aggression toward me. Eventually, a serious argument led to me having to leave. I was promised help to get back on my feet, including assistance with transportation, but unfortunately, those promises fell through. Without a car, it's been almost impossible to find or keep a job — especially living in a rural area with no public transit.
Since then, I’ve been surviving on food stamps, eating canned food and nutritional shakes. Now I’m being asked to find alternative housing, and I’m facing the possibility of having to move again — to a place with no job security or housing stability. I worry about getting stuck without a way to build my future.
Recently, my mom's boyfriend has requested 500 a month to live here, or I would be driven to the homeless shelter(i have yet to be told in what manner I would be allowed even to keep my belongings I brought.
I’m asking for your help to take the first real step toward stability and independence.
What I Need:
Initial rent assistance for a safe place to stay while I get back on my feet
Funds toward a used car, so I can work and support myself without depending on others
Basic essentials to cover food and job-hunting expenses while I transition
My Goal:
I want to create a stable, independent life — to support myself, work, and eventually be able to help others the way I hope you can help me now.
